Day Two

  • Dine at Red’s Bar & Grill for a quick, tasty breakfast before your trek to Sedona, this is best from Fall through Spring, many travel there in the summer just know that it is hot!
  • The red rock cliffs, buttes, and mesas surround one of the most beautiful places in America…Sedona! It’s a 2 to 2 ½ hour drive through the dry, arid, desert, the short grass and shrubs of the grasslands, the chaparral, the oaks, junipers, and cottonwoods of the woodlands, and the ponderosas, Douglas fir, and spruces of the forest as you ascend 4,500 feet to a landscape built for adventure.
  • Take a jeep tour or hike the 4 to 5 miles around Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte, an introduction to the amazing hiking that can be done in Sedona. A terrific reference is Nine Easy Hikes in Sedona, a low-cost hiking book sold at Sedona Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center; proceeds are donated to the Red Rock Ranger District for trail maintenance and improvements.
  • Sedona is also a very walkable destination, with over 40 art galleries, and southwestern and boutique shops. Lots of foodie choices, Sedona draws chefs serving a surprisingly global cuisine with notes of the Southwestern flavors. I recommend Oak Creek Brewery & Grill in Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, which is a picturesque replica of a Mexican town with cobblestone streets, wrought iron balconies, boutique shops and restaurants. If time, a charming area to stroll. Or call ahead for a reservation at L’Auberge for lunch, tucked in the forest along the creek, Dahl and Di Luca honors a true ‘Farm to Table’ practice, or the numerous dining options.  For an off the beaten path option try Barking Frog Grille for Mexican American flavors in a Southwestern ambiance, you really can’t make a bad choice for dining in Sedona.
  • Given time (about 40 minutes) take the most scenic route in AZ and head North through Oak Creek Canyon, about 15 miles of lush forest and rock formations to Flagstaff then return directly to the valley. If you stay in Sedona, head to Crescent Moon picnic area or the airport mesa for the stunning sunset. Stop at our concierge desk for driving directions and other ideas to customize your trip.
  • Travel safely back to the Wigwam. Refresh, order room service, and unwind on your patio, before settling down for the evening.

Day Three

  • Start your day with breakfast at the Wigwam Bar, from their many choices enjoy steel cut oatmeal or an egg & avocado bake, dine in the courtyard for the serene view.
  • Let the day steer you to our Desert Botanical Garden for a world-class experience. There are more than 50,000 plants on five trails that illustrate conservation, desert living, plants and people of the Sonoran Desert and desert wildflowers. They offer a variety of lectures and workshops and tours. Gertrude’s has a seasonal menu for fresh food and a neighborhood favorite.
  • Next door to the Garden is our Phoenix Zoo, home of LouLou our new 20-year-old southern white rhino that came from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in March. We have an amazing zoo that through the year hosts happy hour on the wild side, where you sip and stroll enjoying craft brews, wine and food with your animal encounters with live music. This fall ~ spring they feature Dinosaurs in the Desert, nights of prowling & play! Everyday experiences include Giraffe Encounters, Monkey Village, a Safari Train, Camel rides, and many more memories.
  • 15 minutes away we’d like to recommend dinner at Quiessence, tucked away in the Farm @ South Mountain. This magical location, set in a historic home leaves you ‘walking away on a cloud.’
  • Head to your home away from home for a nightcap and live music at the Wigwam Bar.
  • Settle in with your cozy, comfy, casita for the evening.

Day Four

  • Have a leisurely breakfast at Red’s Bar & Grill on their patio.
  • Participate in a Pure Yoga class at the fitness center for energy and vitality before your flight home.
  • If time permits have a refresh of your hair and nails at the Red Door Spa from their Time Savers menu.
  • Have a safe trip home!
